ORIGINS of the CHROME Cyberman

Hi Guys,

Heres a little story for you that happen years n years ago when i was a young lad.

Before the Silver anniversary season started I wrote to the producer of Dr Who,  JNT (John Nathan Turner),  a letter with some new re-designs of the Cybermen I drew, suggesting if they came back a new look would be cool.  I got a letter back saying he had no plans for the Cybermen to return.   A few months later I heard that he'd had an about turn and decided they were returning so this time I made a macquette of my redesigned cyber-head in 1:4 scale and spray painted Chrome...  JNT wrote back to me saying great design but he'd decide to keep the older design.

Imagine my surprise when I later discovered he had decided to unveil a re-designed Cyberman, albeit moderate.... but using my Chrome idea smiley: eek

Trade me an ATTACK chest unit for this ATTACK style POLICE HELMET?

I need a spare chest unit for some effects stuff. Anyone willing to trade me one for this old MET police helmet. Used condition, needs replacement sweatband inside (easy fix) and has slight damage to the enamel as shown.

Chest unit can be in any condition. It will be dismantled a little to be remade into a stunt chest unit. I may be interested in other ATTACK SUIT PARTS... Feel free to message me regarding this.

Thanks

Tomb Of The Cybermen voice changer

As I'm pretty much occupied with a Cybus voice changer and a car with a broken transmission, I thought I'd post this info up in case anyone fancies a crack at building one of these.

I've read in a few places including the Radio Times that the Tomb Of The Cybermen voice was done using an "Electrolarynx" - basically one of those devices that allows people who've had their voice box removed to talk again. Having viewed the episodes several times I'm not so sure. At the time (late 1960's) there was a lot of use of something called a Talkbox, particularly in jingles on pirate radio stations (Kenny Everett on Radio London being one of the most prominent users).
If you don't know what a Talkbox is, have a look here:

Talkboxes are surprisingly simple units. Here's a tutorial on how to...

Hello from Northumberland, England

Hi, just realised I've been here a while but I've never said hello.

I'm Wayne. I'm 33 and live in a small town in Northumberland, England.
One of the things I've been doing for a while now is voice modulators for Daleks, it was purely by accident that I discovered that the Dalek voice modulators I've been building can also do Cyberman voices if the carrier frequency is high enough. Fast forward to August this year and a certain someone on the Project Dalek forum called "Scouser" sends me a private message asking for some help on building a wearable Cyberman voice changer, as he'd seen one of my videos on Youtube demonstrating a Cyberman voice.

And so here I am. I'm hoping the Cybus voice mod I'm currently working on will be the first of many different eras of Cyberman voice mod!

Hello to everyone!
I'm glad I have finally found a forum dedicated to the greatest Doctor Who villains ever!

New Forum for the latest Cybermen?

Should we have a new forum (or whatever they're called) for the latest Cybermen? I mean, they're obviously Mondasian in origin, due to the fact that they don't have the Cybus logo, or say "DELETE". Never mind about the fact that they look similar to the Parallel universe Cybermen, they use spaceships and Cybermats!

If anybody runs across this auction, please be aware that it is not a correct listing.  Steve Gostelow is a friend of mine, and he has stated this is NOT one of his.  Don't know where these pieces came from, but Steve has already contacted the person trying to sell it and ebay, so please be careful.  I just wanted to make sure all of you knew especially if you were to bid on it.

Hi -

I'm Andy, and I was pointed in this direction by a recent eBay auction. It's great to find such a hive of like-minded folk!

I once had quite a collection of prop replicas, including an eventually complete and reasonably accurate 'Attack' style costume. I sold off most my collection some years ago - cyberman an' all - but am now itching to get back into a JN -T era cyberman costume.

I might try scratch-building one going the pepakura route as I've had some success with pepakura in the past - my old Tumblr blog covers the 2010 making of my Judge Dredd costume with a pep helmet if you start with page one and work forward... after the build it just becomes a Dredd fan-blog. I've also made a couple of Cylons the same way.

Or I could do what I did last time...

For those that have not seen this yet....
Neil Gaiman is in charge of this episode, it was filming yesterday, it is set in an old run down themepark and there is a new cyberman inbound!
So far no images have been taken of the suit because cameras were not allowed, BUT, somebody did make a sketch.
I am stating here now, that if the sketch is anything like the actual suit, I LOVE it and have to build it next year.
If anybody finds any images of this cyberman PLEASE either post them or PM me the link.....PLEASE!! (yes, I really do love the sketch that much)

Here is the article if anybody wants to read about it and see the sketch.

Just thought I'd show you this video I took earlier today of my friend preparing to take part in a scavenger hunt at Doctor Who Dimensions 2012 in Newcastle, England:

The idea was the "Doctor" would burst into the room with his "companions" and have to get the TARDIS key from the Cyberman (this is what he's hanging on the lamp at the beginning of the clip).
The boots were last-minute replacement ski boots painted silver as the boots he normally uses had gone missing.

MFX have post these photo's on the net, a new design of Cybermen to go with a new storey, the new design to me retains the familiar feel of the Cybus Cybermen so as not to confuse newer Cyberfans but the whole look is so much better & should hopefully please those who disliked the previous version.

I think the new look is great, what do the rest of you think ?

Hello everyone.

I'm a long time Dr Who fan, have been since I was a kid. Have always wanted a replica Cyberman helmet and ideally a Cybersuit.

Just wanted to let everybody know of the news released today.   It was confirmed that the Cybermen will be back next year.   The part that has me most excited (other then them returning) is that it is being done by Neil Gaiman and has some decent names appearing in it. Have not seen any news on if there will be a Cyberman redesign or not.  Here is the link to one of the story articles.
